July 24, 2014
Vastu Shastra is the scientific study of directions, which aims at creating equilibrium by balancing the different elements of nature and using them for the benefit of humans. There is a great importance of Vastu Shastra in our life, as it paves way for happiness and prosperity to knock our doors. Vastu is very rational in the sense that it is based on scientific study and not on assumptions. In addition, there is surety about its permanency, as it takes into consideration the directions, which are static.
Talking about Vastu, the best part is that, its guidelines are very simple and easy to follow. It can be applied to virtually all sets of constructions, be it a house, a particular room, religious place, commercial complex, industry etc. Vastu extracts the positive energies of the five basic elements of nature – the solar energy of sun, lunar energy of moon, wind energy, magnetic effects of earth and heat energy of fire, balancing them to bring harmony in the life of a person. In fact, a harmonious life with the nature is the theme of Vastu Shastra.
When there is an imbalance between the five chief elements of nature, it turns into some sort of agitation, sorrow, failure, poor economic condition and many other negative results for a human being. Vastu Shastra comprises of one of the most suitable ways to overcome such problems. It suggests ways in which you can live in agreement with the laws of nature, so that you remain healthy, be peaceful and work efficiently. So, it is advisable to consult a good Vastu expert and follow his/her advice sincerely, when constructing a new structure Vastu Shastra which is considered a conduit between man and nature is based on the infinite powers of the Five Elements (“Panch-Mahabhootas”) – Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Space. The residential and commercial spaces constructed nowadays rely on the basics of the five Elements in all aspects of planning, construction and doing the interiors. The Five Elements which are embedded in almost all materials in the world are used by Vastu Shastra to diminish the problems of occupants that might arise in a dwelling either home or office by changes in exterior and interior structural configurations.
Vastu Shastra as a science also stresses on the orientation of a building or structure. It emphasizes that the orientation of a building and its design is not only significant with the purpose of energy conservation but also for offering a life, which brings good health, wealth and prosperity for its occupants. It is believed that the orientation or direction of a building, according to Vastu is planned based on the rotational setting of the planets and those buildings that are not planned keeping in mind the orientation and not constructed with suitable building materials as proposed by Vastu see their decline to ruins much faster than those built otherwise.
Orientation in Vastu Shastra refers to the eight directions set as the guiding force, which rules the life and destiny of the occupants who reside in the particular direction of the house. The basic directions according to Vastu are East, West, North and South. North-East, South-East, South-West and North-West are considered to be the conjunction points where the two basic directions meet and such directions are of much significance as they hold the power to execute the powers of both the directions. So Vastu Shastra is mainly based on the accumulating of strengths diversified by the forces, in co-existence to the‘Panchbhootas’ or the Five Elements.
Vastu as a subject is an amalgamation of art, science, astrology and astronomy. Vastu which literally refers to the dwelling or shelter, is planned and implemented taking into consideration the effect of the forces in the environment and the ‘Panch-Mahabhootas’ so as to maintain a state of balance, thus maneuvering our luck, health, wealth, ‘karma’ (deeds) and the essentials of life. Vastu Shastra is adapted in the construction of structures in modern days on the basis of creating a harmony between the Elements in the environment – Air, Water, Space, Fire and Earth. The diversified field of Vastu Shastra extends from choosing a plot of land to the planning and execution of design, to the construction of the building or structure and finally to the moving of the occupants (‘Graha-Pravesh’) to the new house.
Vastu can be used in the micro and macro level depending in which field it is used. While Vastu has become a backbone for people who construct their abodes with expectations of living a happy and prosperous life.
Living in a metal house may cause Geopathic Stress. What is Geopathic Stress? It is the general term for energies emanating from the earth that can cause discomfort and ill health in human beings. If the exposure to Geopathic energies is short-lived, then in general the effects are insignificant, although some people will show symptoms of tiredness, inattention and headaches when sitting in a Geopathically stressed area for even one or two hours
Geopathic energies challenge our current understanding of how bodies work and what affects them. Incorporating our knowledge of these phenomena into our understanding of illness requires much more holistic view of man: one which takes into account the role of ‘Chi’, the subtle bodies, the meridians, the ‘Chakras’ and ‘Yin’ and ‘Yang’. This view of man sees the importance of harmony and balance, both within the body and between people and their environment
The earth has a natural magnetic field; it acts as though it has a large magnet at its center. The rotation of the earth creates electric currents in the molten metals found within the earth’s core, thereby producing a magnetic field. Geopathic stress occurs when the earth’s magnetic field is disturbed, either naturally or artificially, and the background field we normally experience is changed.
According to Vastu Shastra build a structure sustainably with natural, non-toxic materials suitable to the local climatic conditions. This includes using materials such as wood, brick, rammed earth and adobe (a sun-dried brick used for building), as well as natural finishes such as clay stucco, marble, ceramic tile, natural fiber for carpets, curtains and furniture, and healthy, natural, non-toxic paints and glues.
A home should not be built near harmful electro-magnetic fields caused by such things as high-tension lines and microwave towers. Special precautions should be taken, including shielding of all electrical wiring, in order to ensure that electro-magnetic fields are not propagated within the home. Ideally, all materials and appliances should be pure and healthy.
A ‘Fortune-Creating’ home as per the principles of Vastu Shastra should be constructed with environmentally friendly, sustainable technologies, which more completely align the buildings with Natural Law with small or zero carbon footprints.
